ck Deuces Wild — Complete Video Poker Guide
Deuces Wild is a casino poker variant where all four 2-cards (deuces) in the deck always act as wild cards. At ck, this game is available in both digital and live dealer formats.
Rules of a Round
Deuces Wild is played with a standard 52-card deck. Each round begins by setting your bet. After placing the bet, the machine or dealer deals five cards face-up. Looking at these five cards, the player decides which to keep and which to replace.
"Hold" the cards you want to keep, discard the rest and draw new ones. After the draw, if the five final cards match any hand on the pay table, you receive the payout for that hand.
The key feature of this game is the four 2-cards (deuces). Each deuce can be used in place of any card — meaning it always gives you the chance to improve your hand. With three deuces, even a Royal Flush can be formed.
Compared to regular poker, the minimum winning hand here is slightly different — payouts generally start from Three of a Kind, because wild cards make it much easier to form smaller hands.
Hand Types and Payouts
The pay table in Deuces Wild is a little different. Below is a general overview of the main hands and how much you might win. Actual payouts depend on how many coins you bet and which variant you are playing.
| Hand | Description | Payout Level (General Guide) |
|---|---|---|
| Natural Royal Flush | A-K-Q-J-10 of the same suit with no deuces | Highest payout — bonus tier |
| Four Deuces | All four 2-cards together | Very high payout |
| Wild Royal Flush | Royal Flush with at least one deuce | High payout |
| Five of a Kind | Five cards of the same rank including deuces | Good payout |
| Straight Flush | Five consecutive cards of the same suit | Medium-high payout |
| Four of a Kind | Four cards of the same rank | Medium payout |
| Full House | Three of a kind plus a pair | Fixed payout |
| Flush | Any five cards of the same suit | Fixed payout |
| Straight | Five consecutive cards (any suit) | Fixed payout |
| Three of a Kind | Three cards of the same rank (minimum winning hand) | Equal to or slightly above the bet |
Note: The payout levels above are for general reference. Actual amounts depend on the specific pay table of the video poker variant and the bet size.
How Much Does the House Edge Matter?
Among video poker games, Deuces Wild is comparatively player-friendly — following the right strategy can keep the house edge quite low. It differs from slots because here you have the opportunity to make decisions.
The house edge depends mainly on which pay table is being used. In the "full pay" variant, the return for players is generally higher than in other casino games. However, if you do not follow perfect strategy, the house edge rises significantly.
Various Deuces Wild variants are available at ck casino. Each variant has its own pay table — it is a good habit to check your preferred pay table before starting to play.
Because the game has wild cards, many people assume they will always get the best hand — but in reality, if you do not make the right hold decisions, even the best possible hand can be wasted.
Strategy Tips for Beginners
Strategy in Deuces Wild means making the mathematically best decision from each five-card hand. Keeping a few basic rules in mind can help you avoid many mistakes from the start.
- Never discard a deuce: Always hold however many deuces you have in your hand. Deuces are the most valuable cards in this game.
- Go for a Natural Royal Flush when the chance is there: If you have four cards that could form a Natural Royal Flush, hold those four cards rather than keeping the complete hand.
- With one deuce, aim for a Straight or Flush: If you have one deuce and three cards of close rank, draw for a Straight or Flush.
- With two deuces, look at the five-card combination: With two deuces, the chance of a Straight Flush is much higher — check how close together the remaining three cards are.
- Do not stick with a single pair: A plain pair without a deuce is not a winning hand in this game — so instead of holding a pair and waiting, look for a better draw opportunity.
- Read the pay table first: Each variant has different payouts. Before playing, check the values for Four Deuces and Natural Royal Flush.
Live Dealer vs. Digital Version
At ck, Deuces Wild can be enjoyed in two different formats. Each has its own characteristics — the comparison below will help you decide which suits you.
| Feature | Digital Video Poker | Live Dealer Poker |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Play at your own pace, no time limit | You need to keep up with the dealer and other players |
| Environment | Solo play with time to think through strategy carefully | Real casino atmosphere — you can chat with the dealer |
| Table Limits | You can usually start with a very small amount | Minimum bet per table may be slightly higher |
| Wild Rules | Fully automated — wilds always form the best combination | Dealer handles the wild cards, more transparency |
| Advantage | Play on mobile anytime | Social environment, feels more trustworthy |
| For Beginners | Good — practice strategy without pressure | Better enjoyed with some experience |
The advice for new players is to practice in the digital version first — there is no time pressure and you can analyse each hand at your own pace. Both versions are available in the ck casino section.
Table Limits and Bet Types
In Deuces Wild you decide the bet amount yourself. In the digital variant you can generally start with a small amount, so beginners can practice without much risk. You can gradually increase the bet size as your confidence in strategy grows.
Live dealer tables generally have a minimum bet limit that may be slightly higher than in the digital version. However, the maximum bet limit is also higher, giving experienced players the chance to play larger rounds.
Most video poker machines allow you to bet one to five coins at a time. Betting the maximum five coins gives a much higher payout for a Natural Royal Flush — so players skilled in strategy generally play with the maximum coins.
